FENSA is the government body regulating double glazing, conservatories, replacement windows and Doors, FENSA covers England and wales but not Scotland and Northern Ireland and over the last 10 years have greatly improved. FENSA has thousands of double glazing companies and fitters registered and when choosing a `FENSA authorised company can give you greater peace of mind and help avoid those rouge traders.
Throughout England and Wales over 92% of windows and doors fitted are covered by FENSA.
To become a member of Approved Trader we do require any window companies and window fitters to provide us with proof they are FENSA authorised, as well as this we go a step further and all new companies must provide us with references from past customers, ensuring we only get the highest quality companies so you don`t have to compromise on quality to get a cheaper cost.
FENSA stands for the Fenestration Self-Assessment Scheme and was set up to help window and door companies comply to the governments building regulations for windows and doors. When replacing your windows and doors you must ensure you comply with current thermal performance and Building Regulation, when using a FENSA approved company you will receive a certificate to show that your new windows meet all regulations, this means you will not need a secondary assessment from the local authority, saving you around £250.
FENSA is funded by its members, all companies who are authorised by FENSA pay a yearly membership fee to run the organisation. FENSA is universally recognised as a success bringing standards of double glazing firms up over the last 10+ years, regulating over 9000 window companies and bringing a national standard throughout England & Wales.
Using a FENSA listed company gives consumers peace of mind that the window fitters are competent, FENSA companies must also offer some sort of deposit protection, for example credit card protection or a trade association Deposit Indemnity schemes. You will receive a FENSA certificate for building regulations and be able to demonstrate your windows and doors are FENSA compliant when you come to sell your property.
