Field Management For Your Horses
Sepereating your fields into seperate paddocks for your horses can create a safe enviroment for your horses to spend time outside, either living outside or just using the paddocks for turnout. A paddock gives your horses the room to move and they can see each other and their environment - while being safely contained. However, paddocks quickly get waterlogged, especially if manure is not removed daily. It is damaging to the horse's feet and uncomfortable for them. To dry a pen and keep it dry - it is important to improve the provision of the paddock. Once completed, the paddock will be much easier to maintain. Resting the padock is also very important task for your horses.

Scrape all the mud and manure from the pen using a bobcat or other equipment that can pick up the paddock and clean. Remove as much as possible, until the paddock is blank and smooth
Try and create a a slight angle away from any buildings, barn or other structures. Use bobcat to remove some of the dirt at the lower end of the note. The slope will water drain down the paddock away from the buildings
Add 4-8 inches of stone dust, sand or gravel in the paddock where the water drains to. This will improve drainage and avoid the paddock getting waterlogged. This addition will last for years with regular maintenance.
